Florida is currently (August 2006) under a statewide quarantine by the USDA and no citrus fruit may leave the state unless the USDA has issued a Federal Certificate.

Current citrus canker quarantine zone status for residential areas:

  • Citrus can be replanted in residential areas, but must be purchased from certified nurseries that are registered with the state. If you purchase plants from a mobile vendor or flea market, ask to see their license. Report any questionable operations to the Division of Plant Industry Helpline 1-800-282-5153. Your cooperation is need to help stop the spread of citrus pests and diseases.
  • Decontamination of equipment and personnel is no longer required for lawn maintenance companies.
  • Citrus material (trees, fruit, rootstock, leaves, potted citrus plants, etc.) may not be moved from Florida, but may move within the state. See USDA information above. For more information call the helpline.
